Where Are They Now: Mia X

Mia X - Mama Drama Album Cover

Signing to No Limit in ’95, Mama Mia was an integral part of the success in the mid to late 1990’s for the Tank. She released three albums during her time there, with a fourth in the works. Notably, she was the only No Limit artist with two “Soulja” songs. “Sista Stories” was slated for release on November 16th, 1999, but Mia faced a series of familial tragedies that year with the passing of her mother, father, and grandmother. This led her to take time off, delaying the album.

She resurfaced in 2001 with renewed energy and a planned release for August of that year. Unfortunately for fans, the project never materialized. Mia X, also known as the Ghetto Sara Lee, stepped back from the limelight for a while, venturing into real estate, releasing a cookbook, and occasionally ghostwriting. She made a comeback in 2014 and 2015 with a pair of singles but has yet to release a full project.

In the 2010s, Mia X revealed she had been diagnosed with uterine cancer, a battle she continues to fight with resilience. Much love to Mia X—keep pushing, and we’re rooting for you.
