Master P’s 7th solo album Da Last Don was supposed to be his last. Whether you believed it at the time or not, P was promoting this album as if it was his swan song out of the rap game. Clocking in at an hour and 47 minutes, the double album left little on the table. Thankfully, it was chock-full of bangers.

Only Percy could pull off an album with 29 songs and only have 3 solo tracks without anybody noticing, or caring for that matter. P had a knack for placing the right feature with the right song to where it blended in perfectly. Case in point: Disc 1. “Black and White” and “These Streets Keep Me Rollin’” with Fiend, “Dear Mr. President” featuring Mac, and “Mama Raised Me” with Snoop and Soulja Slim. They aren’t the most likely of pairings, but it works thanks to P’s mixing mastery.

Now Disc 2 isn’t as strong as Disc 1, but it’s still plenty potent. “Hot Boys and Girls,” “So Many Souls Deceased” and “Let’s Get Em” were standouts on the 2nd half of the album. Take away the corny Scarface accent sprinkled throughout the album and the half-assed attempts at Ghetto D remakes like “Make Em Say Uhh 2” and “Goodbye to My Homies’ and it might’ve been top 3.
